Share our "Undoing" Experiences

Many readers have asked us to set up a forum for discussing the process and practice of undoing the ego. They also want a place where they can share their experiences and be supported in their commitment to Truth.

For most of us going through the experience of undoing the ego, there are many times when the ego would like to tell us that we are 'losing it', that we are 'going crazy' in fact and it seems to be true as our doubt is mirrored by the outside world.

For this main reason, we have set up this group.

Our purpose is only to be truly helpful and to create a space where people can come and 'be' as they are. In keeping with ACIM W-153, 'In my defenselessness my safety lies', we wish to create a space where we can share openly and honestly in trust that our fellow members will respect all posts and respond only in the Spirit of love... as love is ALL there is. Health & Sickness

We haven't written much about this subject, mostly because we haven't been challenged to look at the myths and truth about health and sickness... until now that is!

It's said that we teach that which we most need to learn and so Nouk and I are up to learning the truth about health and sickness because of my own experience with sickness this past year.

Here's what Jesus has to say about health -

ACIM T-8.VIII.9:8 "Health is seen as the natural state of everything when interpretation is left to the Holy Spirit, Who perceives no attack on anything. 9 Health is the result of relinquishing all attempts to use the body lovelessly. 10 Health is the beginning of the proper perspective on life under the guidance of the one Teacher Who knows what life is, being the Voice for Life Itself."

And here's one of His numerous quotes on sickness earlier in the same chapter - T-8.VIII.4:2

"The ego has a profound investment in sickness. 3 If you are sick, how can you object to the ego's firm belief that you are not invulnerable? 4 This is an appealing argument from the ego's point of view, because it obscures the obvious attack that underlies the sickness. 5 If you recognized this and also decided against attack, you could not give this false witness to the ego's stand. 4 It is hard to perceive sickness as a false witness, because you do not realize that it is entirely out of keeping with what you want. 2 This witness, then, appears to be innocent and trustworthy because you have not seriously cross-examined him. 3 If you had, you would not consider sickness such a strong witness on behalf of the ego's views. 4 A more honest statement would be that those who want the ego are predisposed to defend it. 5 Therefore, their choice of witnesses should be suspect from the beginning. 6 The ego does not call upon witnesses who would disagree with its case, nor does the Holy Spirit."

So what I've discovered for myself is that 'sickness' was one of my 'sacred cows' above the Law of God and therefore both acceptable and real. Wow, what a realization! I realized too that sickness stood at the top of my hierarchy of illusions and top of my 'order of difficulties in miracles.' The effect of that belief was to begin to experience the seeming effects of illness (just what the ego ordered!) Obviously I had a lot of work to do and so I began the process of working through the stages of the development of trust once again, this time with a new illusion - sickness.

I got amazing help from a wonderful person who is living proof that God is Life and that trust in God is all we ever need. Her name is Michele O'Donnell and she has helped heal many people (www.micheleodonnell.com).

So what are the learnings so far? Well, a big one is that to trust God is to exchange this life as a body for eternal life. I am learning that true healing is of the mind and that illness is a denial of God and an attraction to death. The concept that fear is not real is also being brought home to me right now as I walk away from 'trying' to heal the body and simply live according to Jesus' explanation of health and healing - i.e. to use the body ONLY for communication and extension. Healing IS the release from fear and I am looking forward to relinquishing the belief in fear, once and for all!
